Cleveland Browns cornerback Joe Haden was on the practice field on Wednesday, which means he’s most likely not suspended for Sunday’s opener against the Philadelphia Eagles. NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said today in an email that if a player is practicing on Wednesday, he’s generally available for that week.
“But there is no specific timetable requirement,” he wrote. “Each case is unique.”
Haden is awaiting a decision on the appeal of his suspension and could miss up to four games for reportedly testing positive for the stimulant Adderall, unless he can get the suspension overturned or reduced.
One player this season, Giants running back Andre Brown, won his appeal for an Adderall suspension. His teammate safety Tyler Sash had his appeal rejected.
The NFL is apparently still deciding which way to go. If Haden wins the appeal, the league does not announce it.
Team officials are subject to a possible fine if they discuss violations of the substance abuse and steroids policy.
